I really need to start writing down the things Maicee says. Sometimes she can be quite entertaining. Tonight she was eating a bag of cherries and watching Veggietales. Apparently she wasn't paying very close attention because I heard her exclaim "where'd my cherries go?!!?" I look down at her feet and find about 20 stems, no pits. She had eaten all of the cherries (even the pits) and didn't even realize it. Silly girl.
So, then she hears her friends playing outside. One little girl, Kaila, asked if she could come down and play. I told her she needed to wipe the cherry juice off her face first. She goes running into the kitchen, grabs one of her colored pictures from nursery, wipes her face, then comes running back to me for inspection. I helped her get a paper towel and really wipe her face. I opened the front door for her and told her to go straight to the "big" backyard, (we have 2 backyards here: the big one I can see from my back balcony, the "small" one is the next building over and has the pool in it, making it the "small" one), because our neighbor likes to get stoned and talk about how no one believes in Jesus anymore. He came over about an hour ago and was super high, so I didn't want Maicee to be anywhere near him. I was watching for her to get to the backyard, and all her friends left. 15 seconds later, Maicee comes running into the backyard, and I hear hear shout, "what?!!? Oh no, where'd my friends go?" Luckily Rhianna heard her and came back to hang out until everyone else came back. She cracks me up.

Two months!!!
Kyson turned two months old on Saturday. He's such a good baby!
I had to take a picture with Maicee and Kyson because Maicee was throwing a fit!
Some smiles.
And then I told him he was going to get some shots...
He did pretty good at his dr.'s appointment. They gave him his shots and as soon as they pulled the needles out of his legs, he stopped crying. The nurses were impressed. He weighs 11 lbs. 3 oz. and is 23 inches long. He's in the 45th percentile for his weight, and the 50th percentile for his height. Good job bud!!!

Smiles!
A name and a blessing
We were able to bless Kyson July 31, 2011. Grandma and Grandpa Heilmann and Aunt Rebecca were visiting, so we had a lot of family there. His blessing was very touching. I'm so glad Dan is able to bless our children!!!
Family picture.

He's so handsome!

Kyson just loves his big sister!

Thanks for coming out Grandpa!

And Aunt Rebecca!

My Daddy come back!!!
The 6 weeks is up! Dan is home! He started school last Friday, so we don't get to see him during the day anymore, but he is home!!!
Watching the escalator, waiting patiently for Daddy.

Julian and Tristan waiting for their dad.

Maicee was so excited to see her dad! She kept telling people "my Daddy come back!" while pointing at Dan.

I love that Kyson is just staring at Dan.

We are so happy to have Dan home!!!

One month!
Kyson is one month old today! I hopped on the scale with him, and I think he weighs about 9 lbs. now! We'll see next week at his one month appointment. He is slowly starting to nurse better. For the last couple of days I won't let him do anything but nurse during the day. This makes him very mad and very hungry, but I figure sooner or later he's gotta catch on, right? Once he gets used to nursing every day, I'll make him nurse at night, too.
One month!
Maicee decided the other day she wanted to hold him. Normally she holds him for like 5 seconds, then she's done. She didn't want to put him down.
Some of his baby shower gifts.
20 more days til Dan gets home!

The longest weeks of my life
I'm not gonna lie, these last 3 weeks have sucked. Dan has been gone, Kyson won't nurse, and my sweet little Maicee turned into a monster. My days consist of changing poopy diapers, pumping then feeding Kyson, fighting with Maicee, and trying to keep my house somewhat clean. I don't understand why I can't just nurse my babies. While we were in the hospital, Kyson was super sleepy, and they were worried about his weight. They encouraged me to give him a bottle until he "woke up" a little more. I refused, because giving Maicee a bottle is what did me in with her. Well, Kyson lost a lot of weight, when we left the hospital he was at 5 lbs. 13 oz. On Thursday he had a dr.'s appointment, and they were worried about his billirubin levels. So I went home that day, started pumping and then feeding him breast milk from a bottle, and he slowly started to gain weight back. We had 3 dr.'s appointments in a row to measure his billi levels, and luckily he didn't have to do the blanket like Maicee did. I kept thinking, "as soon as his jaundice is gone, he will nurse again". That Sunday, June 12th, Dan left for Texas, where he will stay until July 26th. My sisters came that night, and stayed and helped out for a couple of days. When they left on Wednesday, Maicee turned into the monster. She'll wait until I'm either pumping or trying to get Kyson to nurse, then she's into everything. When I ask her to stop, she tells me no. I tell her to go to time-out, she tells me no. That Thursday Ksyon had another dr.'s appointment, and he was at 6 lbs. 6 oz., so he's slowly gaining his weight back. Everytime I try to nurse him, he falls asleep. I try to wake him up, unsuccessfully. So I pump and then give him a bottle. I really hate pumping. My only salvation is my sister-in-law Tracie when she invites me over to her house for the day. Maicee isn't as beastly at her house. And for some reason, I think it's the air conditioning, Kyson will nurse there. We are counting down the days until Dan gets back (26!). I feel like I have no time to take pictures, sleep, shower, clean, or do anything to make me feel human. I have to fight Maicee over everything. And I can't even enjoy having a newborn. I'm open for suggestions on how to get Maicee to like me again, and how to get Kyson to nurse.
